Supervisory Training Program

The Associated General Contractors of Americas Supervisory Training Program (STP) is a construction-specific training curriculum developed by contractors, for contractors. Supervisory skills, or the lack of them, directly affect every companys bottom line. You make your money in the field, and STP can help you improve your organizations bottom line.

To get started, students should prior to the first day of class. Each student must have their own copy of the Participant Manuals, available in printed and eBook formats. Students can purchase the Participant Manuals on the .

1. Locate and Register for Classes

STP is offered in three course delivery formats:

AGC chapters across the country offer the STP curriculum. We recommend reaching out to your local AGC chapter using the Chapter Finder, and inquire about their upcoming curriculum offerings.

2. Complete All Six Units of the STP 10th Edition Curriculum

The 6-course program builds essential supervisory skills. Each Unit can be taken as a stand-alone course. If all Units of the course are completed, students receive a Certificate of Completion issued by AGC of America and a digital badge. Individual Unit completions may also receive a Certificate of Completion issued by the chapter.

This course will provide information about contract documents and construction law to help supervisors recognize the roles and responsibilities of all contracted parties, to develop an understanding of how contract documents can be helpful to solve problems and resolve conflicts, and to develop positive relationships between all parties in the construction process.

This course covers understanding how project estimates are compiled, how to compare actual project costs with those estimated, and how to control costs to meet the estimate. This course also details how productivity is measured, how the supervisor plays a major role in increasing job site productivity, and how a small increase in productivity can have a significant impact on the time and cost of a project.

3. Submit Evaluation and Certificate of Completion Application

 

At the completion of the course, please submit the Participants Profile and Registration and Evaluation Form provided at .

Upon completion of each individual STP course, participants receive a certificate from the course sponsor. When participants complete the entire 6-Unit program they are eligible to submit an application for the Supervisory Training Program Certificate of Program Completion and digital badge.
